Problem getting my Elite vsx 21 to display

So everything is up and running but am having trouble getting my receiver's menu to display on my Samsung 620 LCD. I think it is a connection issue but feel really helpless with this one, the manual is not much help. Also, the MCAC setup MIC will not work, it tells me "not available."

Hi. How do you have the receiver connected to the TV? I use HDMI from my VSX-23 to my TV (and I'm almost positive that my buddy uses HDMI from his VSX-21 to his TV), and we both get the on-screen display.

Are you able to see the set-up menu (for the MCACC and such)? The only menu that comes to mind that will display on the screen is the set-up menu. The Audio and Video parameter menus only display on the front panel of the receiver.

As for the microphone, perhaps you are just at the wrong part of the menu if you can't see it on the screen. Make sure that the connector is firmly in the jack on the front panel of the receiver, though.

Right now, I have a single HDMI cable running from the output of the receiver to the input hdmi 1 of the TV. That's it for cnnoections between the receiver and the set. I am missing something simple, I believe. Perhaps a brain.

Do you get any video from the HDMI connection? If it's just the menu that you're missing, that's one thing. If you get no picture at all, then there are two things that stand out to me based upon the "Troubleshooting" section in the VSX-21 owner's manual for not getting any picture over HDMI:

1. The TV HDMI input is not HDCP-compatible. I downloaded the Samsung manual for their 620-series televisions, and it does mention HDCP. It says that HDMI has the HDCP coding feature installed, but it doesn't actually say that the televisions have it installed. For now, though, I'm assuming that the 620-series does have it because they have HDMI 1.3 and are fairly recent televisions. To help me know if I looked at the right manual, please let us know the full model number of your TV.
2. The output resolution from the receiver isn't appropriate. Try changing the output resolution by following the instructions on page 68 of the VSX-21 owner's manual. The default is for the receiver to auto select, which should work fine, though.

Could you try outputting the OSD menu to the TV via composite video?
