Hi my Technics SA DX930 has developed an issue . It works fine in standard stereo both main front speakers . When I switch to 5.1 I lose the left main speaker also when go to digital the sound cuts in and out intermittently random time in secs .. I'm guessing it's the amp as speakers work fine in stereo and also all worked fine on my older 5.1 surround amp . Any ideas as to where to start poking my screwdriver and hammer lol ( soldering iron )?

That is a 20 year old Prologic receiver and beyond its useful life. Does that unit have the ability to be reset to factory defaults? If so do it. This sounds like a processor issue in which case the unit is not repairable. Things have moved a long way since that unit was built.

Yup the receiver does have a reset , and may have found the fault inadvertently by using another antique . My best guess now is that it didn't like the EQs extra amplification over the tape monitor . But as I replaced it with a Denon 2700 which did tell me an overload was taking place I have yet to test the theory on the Technics .... And they don't make em like they used to they were built to last unlike these days and built to warranty expires lol
