Would there be a noteworthy difference in replacing a Pioneer vsx-815 with a lowcost pre/pro such as emo lmc-1? 100% home theater usage. I am using the lpa-1 for amplification nht classic 4's and nht 2C up front. Sounds quite good but I am in too far to turn back now.

Keep the VSX-815 until the LMC-2 comes out. It sounds like you are getting by just fine with the Pioneer. The LMC-2 will have a lot more to it than the LMC-1, such as HDMI connectivity with a very nice scaler, and plenty other connections and features. The HDMI on the LMC-2 is version 1.3 and can process audio from HDMI sources. The LMC-2 will also look very nice with the LPA-1.:)

The Yammy RX V663 is also going to be a killer pre/pro from around $550.00 (it just won't look as cool as anything from Emotiva).

I have seen some quotes that the processor plays a almost insiginificant role in the system overall, with speakers and room getting the lionshare of the benifits to ht systems. With that being said should I be concerned at all? If the gain to SQ is so small should I be concerned about updated pre/pro?

The new surround sound codecs on Blu-ray are the biggest factor in having a current pre/pro or receiver IMO (at least for SQ). For stereo music, I doubt there will be much difference, if there is it won't be night and day.:)

Agreed, and there are compelling reasons to wait a bit longer because prices seem to be falling dramatically as competition between manufacturers has heated up.
