I have 2 tower speakers (1 tweeter + two 8" woofers) manufactured by pro audio. They have no spec. chart or model no. in the back and I can't find the manufacturer web site. Does anyone know a web site where I can search for and look at some pro audio speaker so I can have the spec. on my speakers?

Thank you

White van comes to mind. How did you acquire them?

A friend of mine give it to me 2 years ago. I don't know how he acquired them and he has trow away the box. But like you said, white van comes to mind. The only thing I know about those speakers is that they have a 4 ohms impedance because I mesured it. Now i'am looking for a receiver and having to drive 4 ohms speakers limits a lot my choices (I was looking for a Harman kardon receiver and they can only drive 8 ohms speaker). I'am wondering if I should just forget those speakers and by 8 ohms speakers!!!

Just because a receiver only says 8ohms doesnt mean it can't push a 4ohm speaker. Usually they all can, BUT if pushed to hard, the receivers amps can heat up and it can cause problems.
HK's receiver amps are very good.

Also, you could look into getting a seperate 2 channel amp. This would be able to provide the power needed without pushing your receiver.

There are a ton of amp recommendations within previous threads in the amps/pre-amps/receivers section of the msgboard.

What is your budget?
Once you decide on that, we'll be able to tell you different amp/receiver combinations that could be within your price range.

I know it's not much but I have a budget of around 500$(can) for a receiver. The yamaha HTR-5850 looks interesting and it has a selection for 4 ohms speakers. What kind of changes take place inside the receiver when you make these ohms selection?

It cuts the power in half. But, I think the switch goes from 8ohm to 6ohm. In this case, it cuts a quarter of the power out. Your best option is to get a receiver with pre-outs, and add an amp. Or, buy 6 or 8ohm speakers. Or, risk it and watch that volume knob.

Audition it.
Many stores will let you bring it home to try it on your system. Or if they have a decent return policy, buy it, test it, return it.

I wouldnt use that switch though. leave it at 8ohms, it'll push 4 fine.
After 5 minutes of average use, feel to see how hot the receiver is running.

If it's warm to touch your fine. If it's hot, find a different receiver or speakers.
