Price Slash! Xbox HD-DVD Player now $129.99

AS the title says, they have officially cut the price AGAIN! My g/f said she would buy this for me for X-mas, but I don't want to wait 12 weeks for the free movies. Where is Walmart with the in store special, or Best Buy so I don't have to wait?

Just a warning to all the xbox attachment will not decode any HD audio formats and cannot pass them via bitstream which means you are only buying half an HD player when you get one.

I would just go out and buy an A3 for the extra bit of money or an A2 if you can still find one.

Yea but still a good price. I agree, if you want one, get the $198 player at wal mart this Friday with 5 free movies in store!

Because the HD add-on drive doesn't support HDMI [IIRC] you also run the risk that something that you want to see in full 1080P glory is downconverted to a lower resolution.

I can't argue with the price but I think that I'd rather spend more money and get a more fully featured device.

LOL, not a bad price. You fellows do realize that this would be the cheapest route for a HTPC.
Or heaven forbid you are all for fair use rights, and want to back-up your HD DVDs.
This would be the cheapest way to back them up.

One of those 2 reasons above is why I bought one (actually 2 of them).
But I have not got around to the HTPC project, and could use some extra X-mas money.
So they are for sale at a great price (one sealed, the other sealed except to take King Kong out).

Thanks to digital rights management (DRM) 1080p can only be sent digitally over HDMI. Component cables can handle 1080p but since they are analog they can't carry the DRM signal.
