With the inclusion of DTS MA on the PS 3, do you think this will change the pricing of the Panny 50?

My read is that the Panny only provides analog out and the PS 3 provides gaming.

Thoughts?

The BD50 is already supposed to be less expensive than the BD30, so I doubt it will drop to 40G PS3 price levels.

This may be the dumbest question ever asked, but its it possible to download media or a video file onto a Blu-ray permanently...so it's plays everytime preceeding a disc?

I have a friend with a new Pioneer player...wants to get one of those personalized DVDs that puts "your name in lights" with a theatre intro...but doesn't want to ruin the continuity by having to switch discs after it plays. make sense?

Are you sure about that? BD30= $499; I've heard and read that the BD50 will be either $599 or $699. It doesn't matter though because any one of those numbers is WAY too high. Until they get that ridiculously over inflated number back in-line with what the US consumer can easily stomach, it's never going to get a big enough foothold to last. IMHO

That was the word from CES, that it would cost less. I don't know that for a fact, so we'll just have to wait and see.

That's also what I've heard too, that the DMP-BD50 will be less than the 30 at launch.

Check out some of the authoring packages like Nero, etc. Are you talking about dumping it onto a stamped Blu-Ray movie from Fox, Warner, etc.? If so, they're read-only. If you're talking about putting it onto your own custom movie/recording, then burning it to a writable Blu disc, then anything's possible.
