This one goes back to the roots of the series, not just the look and feel, but even the actual sounds from the original. Whether they reused them or recreated them to sound like the original, I enjoyed their inclusion quite a bit. They used the same/similar background music from the original in the opening scenes and many of the effect sounds through the whole film and it added an extra level of fun to mix. I don't like Brody in all roles, but he was excellent in this one. There are a few good twists and overall I thought it was very well done. I don't hit the theaters much lately, but this one was totally worth it. It isn't a 5 star movie, but that shouldn't be what one is expecting from a movie like this - what it is, is a fun action flick. I will be buying it when it comes out on Blu. RECOMMENDED!

I will rent it for sure maybe buy the blu, but I won't waste 10 to 13 bucks a ticket to see it in the theater. The theater is reserved for only very special films these days.

I agree John after seeing it this afternoon. It started kind of slow, but began to warm up nicely. The ending was better than I expected it to be. My main complaint, however, is that Laurence Fishburne got killed off way too early imho. He is an excellent actor. Most of the audio and visual effects were done rather nicely. Over all, I would have to rate this film a solid B. This is mainly due to the latter parts of the film. That is, it seemed to get better as the film progressed throughout. Like John, I do recommend this one as well!

Cheers,

Phil

I really liked the first Predator but have been disappointed with the sequels. Glad to see this one getting positive reviews, hope to catch it Friday.

Don't you have theaters with low prices on the first show of the day? Mine does, $6.:D
And, usually it is almost empty:)

I had some passes actually, but the theater that they were for was showing Eclipse in 10 theaters.... So I had to drive farther to see it and actually pay lol. It was still fun.

There's only one sequel, Predator 2 with Danny Glover, and there were basically no references to it in this one. I actually liked that one too. The AVP movies are only indireclty related to the main Predator series IMO. The Alien prequel is supposed to have a tie-in with those though, I read.

It's worth a 7$ matinee ticket for some weekend fun with a friend or two. Nothing spectacular is really revealed, but if you like Predators you should go see it. It's a well paced mediocre+ action flick.

Here's my one gripe though. At a early point in the movie one member describes what happened in the first movie a bit (Soldier encounters them, they see infrared, he used mud to hide his heat signature, etc). After hearing that you'd assume they'd all hit the nearest source of mud and go for a roll yes? I wanted to yell at the screen the whole time because they didn't, it NEVER even occurs to them.
