I bought a used Chiro c-500 amp (140w x 5) to supplement my Denon 1802 (I decided I didn't want to take the plunge on a receiver just yet - not until they incorporate dvi/hdmi switching). Unfortunately I failed to realize that my little denon only has front l/r and center outs  ......so whaddaya think....do I find a receiver to fill the gap, or maybe a decent preamp?? I do listen to 5-channel stereo quite often, but I still don't want to make a permanent purchase until the video switching is standard.

Any recomendations? thoughts?

thanks,
chris

PS my budget would be around 400 bucks.......maybe I should just sell the amp and buy a 3805......

Put a bid in for this Marantz at $400. If you lose, you're out nothing. If you win, you got a comprable receiver to the Denon 3805 for a third of the price. If I didn't just buy my 3805, I'd bid on this thing until it hit $600! It's last years model (new), but has just about every feature the Denon does. The new Marantz SR8500 is almost $1400 retail! They have 113 of them to sell, so there will be 113 bids that win - no sense not trying, right? Heck, you could buy and sell them with a profit at that price!
