I'm looking to replace my NAD T765 AVR with a pre-pro (<2k budget). The T765 is a little long in the tooth technology wise hence the move. I did look into NAD's modular boards for upgrades but they are entirely too pricey. I'd rather start from scratch with a new pre-pro.

My amplication is well taken care of with a Rotel RMB-1095 multi channel amp. I don't need all the bells & whistles that are packed in some units. I just want great HT sound combined with great 2 channel listening. My newly acquired KEF Q900 speakers are asking for more. Any suggestions...thanks.

Sounds like a Marantz AV7005 would serve you nicely.:)

If you want a true prepro you really only have a few manufacturers to look at in that price range.

Onkyo - 5508
Marantz - AV7005
Integra - 80.3

Both the Onkyo and Integra will offer Audyssey XT32 which is nice for setting up multiple subs.

If you are open to using a receiver as a pre then there are very good deals out there on the Denon 4311.

For a 2K budget I would go with the 4311 that has prepro mode. Someone was able to get one for <1.5K. The Onkyo prepros have super specs but I have the feeling that the 4311 will be more trouble free.

You can get the 80.3 for very very close to $2k..

I highly recommend this product...
