I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a powered speaker system that satisfies this criteria:

1. small enough to be moved around every once in a while (I move a lot) so probably not 5:1 unless rear speakers are wireless
2. Usable with an MP3 player and PC(mostly PC)
3. High quality sound
4. A remote would be nice but I don't think powered systems come with them

I checked out the Bose Companion 5 - but wasn't impressed with the sound

I can spend up to $500

How many pieces are you looking to lug around

there's a plethora of 2.1 computer speakers out there but that's three pieces.

Thanks for the reply

I guess I'd prefer a 2:1 unless you know of a good, small 5:1 system. Are all these 2:1 systems out there about the same or does any really stand out of the crowd for sound quality/features?

AudioEngine 5

Check out the AudioEngine 5 powered speakers. They even have a sub output which you could connect to a small Onix or HSU sub.

Bose Companion 5

Quick question: how would the Bose Companion 5 system measure up to the audioengine 5s? I can't find any reviews of the Bose system on audioholics.com.

It seems hard to find objective seeming opinions on the Bose system
