Power Conditioner & UPS

Hi Folks
I am using to solicit the opinions of all you experts out there on the following matter. I recently acquired an APC H10 Power Conditioner (wanted to procure the unit with back battery but budget would not permit) for use with my home system which consists of the following. 1- DSR-920 4DTV Satellite Receiver, 1-32 Mitsubishi TV Monitor, 1- RX-V659 Yamaha AV Receiver etc. The question that I am seeking a response to is this. I presently have the Satellite Receiver etc plugged into a UPS unit & I would like to know whether it will be ok to plug the UPS unit (I intend to use a separate UPS unit for each peace of equipment) into the APC H10 Power Conditioner & then plug my equipment into the UPS units.
Any & all comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds a bit over complicated. Why not just one big UPS and plug your power condition into it and plug the components into the power conditioner.

I would suggest calling or emailing APC with this question because in general you do not want to plug the UPS into anything other than the wall outlet; ie its ok to plug power strips into the UPS but not to plug the UPS into a power strip that is itself connected to the wall outlet. The reason is that the power strip may only partially act on any surge and reduce it to a level that the UPS doesn't see as a problem and thus it cannot react to the surge and do its job of switching to battery power. A typical UPS will have a clamping time of 1 nanosecond or less but a power strip cannot act that fast.

Perhaps the HT power conditioners are not quite the same thing and it would be ok to plug the UPS into them, but I would contact APC and find out for sure. I also agree with the idea of one large UPS for all the devices instead of one little one for each - you just have to buy one with the capacity to handle the total wattage draw of all the connected devices.

Hi folks thanks for the response it's greatly appreciated. I did contact APC sometime ago about puuging the Power Conditioner into a large UPS with all the components pluged into the Power Conditioner, however, they advised against this approach. Therefore I was wondering whether the reverse will work i.e. pluging the UPS in Power Conditioner and pluging the components into the UPS. The reason for using several UPS units it that the Power Conditioner has different outlet plugs for different components i.e. a seperate power out for TV, DVD, CAT/SAT, Monitor, Subwoffer etc. so my plane is to use a seperate UPS for each. I now it's a bit of overkill but I can't of another way to both working toughter. Any further comment/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

volcar, I think you are over complicating things. Any one of these will provide all in one solutions for UPS and Power Conditioning. It's the way to go for what you want IMO. I will also toss in my bias, unless there is specific reason, for 99% of us a power conditioner is a really cool and expensive surge protector.

That being said, a few months ago I was at BB for a decent surge protector. Due to a pricing mix up and me being a PIA about it, I got a Pure AV conditioner for half off ($150). It helps organize my power cables, tells me my voltage is rock steady and looks great in my rack.
