l just aquired a Denon DP59L turntable with a DV20x needle and would like to get a decent power amp. l know its subjective but if there was something for $2000/$3000, is it going to be significantly better than something for $1000.
There are so many online, is there a 'favourite'.
playing Steely Dan and UFO. l will post other questions for the preamp and speakers. thanks in advance.

You may want to read up a little before spending that kind of money.

To start with, you will need a preamp and, most likely, a phono preamp as well between that turntable and power amp.

The Music Hall MMF Phono-Pack is a superb phono preamp with various loading options and has moving magnet and moving coil inputs. I use this model myself, as it has extreme low noise and great measured distortion performance. My unit, I measured myself for verification, and RIAA error is less than 0.2dB, 20Hz-20,000Hz. This pre-amp is just over $100, and you need not pay more, as you will not get real performance increases by simply pouring money into it. The main expense is the table itself, as it is purely mechanical based, and especially today, in low production relative to other sources - making it ar more expensive than a digital source, to get a high quality unit. However, cost can be minmized if lucking into a high quality vintage unit as you have managed to accomplish. The only real negative thing about some vintage units, is that some of them have complex parts and out of production integrated circuits that are no longer available - so if your vintage unit fails - it may be difficult to get it repaired.

The Denon DP-59L is a phenomenal unit, assuming it's in proper working order. It has a superb quartz locked, low noise high quality motor with pitch perfect stability. The arm system exceeds any arm available today an any high end table. It's arm has various sensors and accelerometers located within it. These sensors are fed into an onboard computer and using various actuators connected to the tone arm, various tracking issues, and even arm resonance(s), are counteracted for neutral performance. The DP-59 was based on the incredible DP-100M, a high end professional device intended for archiving and broadcast use.

The Denon DL-110 is a superb cartridge to use on that table. The DL-110 is far better, in build quality, diamond stylus quality and measured performance, as compared to any other cartridges anywhere near it's price range. In fact, the DL-110 is at home on any level of system, regardless of cost.
