Posting in Classified Section

Not being able to post in the Classified section until you have a set number of posts is really frustrating. What is more frustrating is that no where on the site can I find out how many I need till I can actually post a new thread in this forum. Also why is it just this forum that I can't post a new thread in - but every other forum on this site I can?

It keeps the SPAMMERS out. I know it can be frustrating, but it is for a good cause.

Actually, it's right in the title of the Clasiffied forum,

"Come here to sell your gear to other audio enthusiasts. It's fast, it's easy, and best of all, it's FREE. Please be sure to read and agree to the Forum Rules before posting your gear. NOTE: You MUST have 25 or more posts in order to start a post in this thread. NO COMMERCIAL POSTS!"

The classified section is a benefit for regular contributing members. Spend some time on the forum and let the members get to know you. Maybe then somebody might feel more comfortable to buy something from you.

Otherwise, if all you want to do is sell things, try Audiogon or E-Bay. This site is not for you.

We also delete posts that are for padding to sell items and in some cases ban the offenders.

Thanks for pointing this out. If I opened my eyes I probably could have seen this. This site is a great spot for exchanging information, and I'm sure I'll be posting it more and more.

I find it funny that every few months somebody starts a thread complaining about the number of posts needed before they can list something for sale in the classifieds. Every time the poster says the number of posts required is unknown - yet the answer is right below the link they had to click on to get to the classified section.

Maybe they just need to make that part BOLD so that it is easeir to see or put a Sticky at the top of the forum once you are in it, because obviously people don't see it in the forum header :)

I was thinking that the error msg saying that they don't have enough posts could say that they don't have 25 posts? Or maybe by making people use their heads a little to figure it out is another way that keeps out the riffraff.

Actually, it bothers me that it's ONLY 25 posts when you're required to have a redonkulous number of posts to submit a Deal to the Deals forum that has to be reviewed by a mod before it's even posted. (I think it was 500? I know it's over 100)

So really, 25 posts is nothing to worry about. :p

In hindsight - 25 posts isn't bad at all...

We used to have one spammer in particular that we would like kept out. That one was annoying. Like you said, 25 isn't that bad and it also sort of encourages some participation in the forum itself :)
