Post limit before new threads?

Ok, I am sick of these hippies coming from random sites and promoting there website in 3 threads all titled the same.

Can we make it so you can't start a thread until you have like 5 or 10 posts? This way, you can also assure that no repeat threads are started until the member searches the forum for their answer.

Nice idea; they did something similar to this over at digitalhomecanada, and it got rid of the spammers pretty quickly.

cheers,

Any of you ever read the book animal farm? The history on this thread has been altered. It's like AVhosebag.com never existed. Set the limit at <183.

I personally don't think setting a threshold like that would be a good way to go about it. Many people simply want an answer to their question and aren't looking to stay for long period of time. Forcing them to have 5-10 posts before being able to post their own thread would only make people hijack threads and bring them back from the dead.

How anoying can a spam post be anyway? Just don't read it. The moderators at PCmech, the other forum I frequent, simply delete those thread when they see them. The members know not to respond to them and there is no problem. I haven't seen too many spam posts here anyway.

Thats why the can use the SEARCH FUNCTION and FIND OUT WHAT THEY NEED!

They can still post, but they can't start a thread.

What if the search button does not tell them what they need? I always search before asking a question and many times I don't find results that are specific enough.

By now, you can find a thread similar to what you need.

Apparently there is a threshold for new posts in the classified section. I have a BSR eq3000 equalizer I would like to list here. How many posts do I need before I can do so.

I am enjoying the music forum and plan on visiting regularly...

Loosin' it

Dudes,

I'm loosin’ it here! How many posts does one require before they are allowed to post an ad in the classified section? I have a whack of LPs that I wish to post there, but keep getting messages stating that:

"samNOISE, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation"

I'm led to believe that this is due to a problem with my user profile which has a note stating:

samNOISE is online now
Awaiting Registration Conf

However, I have in fact already registered...

Any light shed on this would be great as mods / admin does not answer any contacts I have attempted.

Andrew D.

You weren't fully registered (probably spam blocker caught the follow-up email). I fixed it for you. You still need a certain amount of posts before being able to use the Classifieds. It's reserved for regular forum users and helps keep out spam.

HighFiHoney, we've got some bad news about Sheep... he's turned to the dark side of the woofer... yeap, snake oil pushing. :( Clint caught him driving back up towards BC with a tanker truck full of snake oil... I hear he may be returning tomorrow, I hope he learned his lesson, but honestly... I think it might have to do with the fact that he really is Canadian... it's true; all this time we thought he was kidding! Nope. He plays hockey and everything. Sheep is Canadian...

Welcome to Audioholics!

I believe the post limit is around 20 before you can start a thread in the classified section.

Hi, I'm having the same problem here.
I can reply to messages but I can't start new topic. It says that my account need activation.
There is nothing in my spam filter.
I even tried to see if I get any emails from this site and requested a password reminded but nothing came to my inbox or my spam folder.
Any idea why?
