positioning of spl meter

when calibrating do you sit at the primary position and extend your arm straight forward with the meter facing slightly forward while slouched down to not interfere with the sound reflecting off the back wall? If not, then what is the correct positioning of the meter, thanks.

Meter facing straight up with the microphone at about ear level. Mounting the meter to a tripod positioned at the listening position makes it easier if you have room to stand behind the tripod, but in a pinch the slouch down technique works well enough for me.
