THIS IS A TEST OF THE EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM
Now that the emergency is over, I'm looking for a decent portable LCD ATSC television. Obviously, portable means it needs to operate on batteries. I have put off buying a replacement for my "emergency" television till after the digital broadcast conversion is done. Well, no more putting it off. Since I would only use this set during times of extended power outage (hurricane) it will need to have decent battery life and it would really be nice if it had NOAA Weather Radio. But I'd settle for an AM/FM radio if it's available.
I have read some of the reviews on other forums but I was hoping to get some personal exerience from some of our members. It seems the big issues are battery life, can it accept regular batteries or special battery pack, ability to tune in stations, the need for external antenna and size of picture.
Since I need to get one of these for my mother, size does matter (don't go there Alex). Most of the smaller 7" sets may be a little hard for her to see. And this would obviously rule out the laptop computer since I don't feel like giving lengthy computer courses.
