This review is right on the money, I'd say. I was considering writing my own mini-review of this one, but I got scooped! :p All in all, the technical merits of the disc outstrip In Absentia, and the music is nearly as good. I didn't hit me right away, but repeated listenings have convinced me this one's a definate classic. A MC reference disc, too, to be sure.

I also agree, the review hits the nail on the head. This is one of the few discs I have heard where there isn't a noticable difference between the DTS tracks and the DVD-A. This is the first disc of Porcupine Tree that I have owned, I plan on picking up In Abesntia soon! :)

'In Absentia' is a GOOD disc. I really like the music. I do not say that often either. I first heard Porcupine Tree on a B&W sampler disc. I was thinking, "Wow who are these guys? They're pretty dang good!". I bought the disc and the rest is history. I will also try 'Deadwig' now as well.

I bought In Absentia this week and I really like it. Some of the pictures are a little disturbing though. Oh well I bought it for the music, I can turn the TV off and enjoy the music I guess.

I found Porcupine Tree the same way; From the B&W sampler.
Musically I prefer In Absentia a tad more than Deadwing. Although the highs on Absentia's DTS disc do get a bit harsh at times. I'm not sure about the DTS version of Deadwing as I was stupid enough to only buy the redbook CD version. Not really sure what I was thinking there.
Overall a great band. It's somewhat amazing these guys aren't better known.

Great band. I was given the Deadwing CD version. This is one of the best new cd's I have. I like it enough to get the DVD-A version soon. :)

Bought this on a rec over at AVS. Liked it, then after about 4 listens, started to love it. The visuals did turn me off. A bit too much industrial pscho-killer for my taste, but shut your eyes and the images don't match the music.
