Popping/Static in speakers

EMP E55Ti's front L/R, EMP 56Ci Center, DefTech SM 450 for surrounds. Onkyo 608 receiver, Directv (HD), BlueJeans speaker wire.

While watching the Medallion, (Jackie Chan 2003) I noticed some crackling, static type noise coming through the speakers. Seemed to be coming from all speakers. Then later while watching Cool Hand Luke (1967), I noticed the same type sounds coming through the speakers. Couldn't isolate the noise, but it was coming from the surrounds.
The odd part is, the crackling, popping, static noise was during quiet scenes. I tried to find more recently released movies with loud action scenes and only found one, Chronicle (2012) and I did not notice any noise.

Checked all connections for issues and speaker wire for frays. Made sure speakers were all in phase.

Could this be an anomaly in the movies I was watching or could it be a short somewhere?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Does it do it on all inputs, or just digital ones? Sounds like another Onk on the way out.

I have not noticed any noise when watching DVD or BluRay. While watching football today, I turned the volume a little louder than usual and didn't notice any noise. I don't use excessive volume when watching movies.

I think you may be right about the Onkyo. I have noticed it's getting warmer than it used to as well. The cabinet is well ventilated, but it still gets hot.
