Popping sound from subwoofers when AVR changes decoding outputs

I have a denon x4000 and I am experiencing a light popping sound from time to time when the AVR changes decoding outputs. Generally when I get into a non digital vs digital change. Most common when watching Direct TV and I get a non digital commercial. Is this a indication I have something going out on the AVR or something I can fix with setting adjustments. This did not happen at my old house with Direct TV. Or could it be a cable issue either HDMI or RCA to the sub amp. Any suggestions?

Something ain't right, for sure.

Recheck you're connections/cables/Direct TV STB. And swap out the AVR with a spare AVR if you have one for testing purposes. Could be a grounding issue too.

Might also think about resetting the avr. Not sure what you mean by digital/non-digital commercials, tho....you mean a change from 2.0 to 5.1 audio or something?

Yes. It primarily happens when my AVR switches from a digital tv show to a stereo commercial. So it it kind of hit or miss. But does make a light higher pitches pop sound on the subs when it does take place.

I swapped HDMI cables this morning and had the system on fir about 2 hours....I’ll continue to monitor

Everything on D* is digital before it gets to you, tho....so am confused on what a digital tv show is now and why the commercial being stereo isn't.

It really shouldn't matter whether it's a TV show or commercial, you shouldn't be getting any type of 'pop(s)' or whatever.

Make sure the sub connection cable is secure on both ends of the sub and the AVR. Unplugging the power supply cord from the electrical outlet and the AVR itself for 45 seconds or so couldn't hurt either before resetting the AVR, as lovinthehd mentioned.

Try swapping the sub RCA cable.

I’ll do that also. So far I have not had the issue in watching TV for about 2 hours...with the HDMI swap. I would have expected to see picture issues or something though if that was the issue.
