I have heard of this problem before. There have been reports in the past with bitstreamed dts-hd in certain receivers, popping sounds occur and some people have even reported the "popping" even damaging their speakers. If I remember correctly from a past thread that a firmware upgrade would solve the problem, however I agree with Midcow that you should contact marantz customer support just to make sure.

Isn't some popping a bit normal? I know when I switch back and forth between an HD channel like 903 to a normal channel like 57 then back, I'll get a couple of audible pops, but nothing outrageaous.

FW update H38 fixes this problem but you must send the receiver in for the the update. Call the NJ service center line and tell them what's happening.

There have been reports of some people getting the FW update without a problem and others who have had difficulty convincing the CS rep that there was even a problem. Marantz CS has been all over the place on this particular issue.

BTW, if your BR player is able to decode DTS-MA and send it as LPCM the problem goes away.

I have a 7002 and have debated sending it in but after reading some of the stories on other forums I've decided to decode in the player. I don't want to deal with sending it in.
