So I have about a 2k budget to setup a 2 zone whole home audio system. I have been looking around at some out of the box systems, and they tend to run more then my budget (a lot more). So after a bunch of searching I figure I can do something like this:

House Layout: Open floor layout, with 3 main rooms. Currently in reno so all the walls are exposed (no sheet rock).

Zone 1: Family Room (16x17x9), Kitchen (21x16x9), and Dinning Room (16x13x9)
Zone 2: Patio

In Ceiling Speakers: 3 pairs of TSC IC6 = $149
Out Door Speakers: 1 pair of TSC 10-6BL = $50

I was thinking about using a Sonos (150 bundle) system to be the back end. I figure I can run it in the following configuration:

1. Zone Player 120 can feed Zone 2

2a. For Zone 1 I can use the Zone Player 90 to feed into a multi channel amp like one of these:

-- OR --

2b. I can use a older Sony receiver I have and then get one of these:

Option 2b would save me some money as the speaker distribution hub is cheaper then buying the multi zone amp, but its not that huge of a deal breaker for me.

This would bring me right under the 2k budget and I figure I can get a pretty good sounding whole house system without breaking the bank.

I can probably go bigger on the in ceiling speakers since it will not add that much more to the total cost, especially if it would sound better. I think its the distribution part that might really blow my budget out.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.
