I'm new here, i've been reading and trying to understand all this technology. But I just don't get it. So, where better to beg for help than here?

I just moved into a new home, bought me a new TV for my bed room and was wondering if any one could recommend me a good system priced below 700-900ish, I don't mind going over, but would def prefer to stay below.
My room is not the biggest place, and doesn't have the most room. It's 14ft x 13ft. I have a 46" TV in the middle of my room and all it's missing is some surround sound when i'm playing on my PS3/XBOX or watching movies in the comfort of my own bed. I would like to build this around a Denon Receiver as I see people rave about how good it is. Please tell me if i'm crazy and my budget is way too low. I do want to mention that I have a pair of SANUS SYSTEMS BF-24B Wood Speaker Stands (not enough post to post link - can be found on Amazon) - so I would like my speakers to be able to fit on that bad boy
