Polk Sub

Hey everyone I am new and if someone can help please do. I have an older polk sub that suddenly makes humming noise even when disconnected from amp.The problem is it will cost me 75 dollors just for dealer to look at it. I am wondering should I take money and just buy new one. my budget is around 250 to 300.The polk I have now is a 12 inch bottom fireing. My room is very small. Thank yo for any ideas.

Which model Polk is it? I'm assuming there is a size constrant since it's used in a small room.

Polk isn't known for great subs, so I would definitely buy a new one. I'd actually take a look at the Onyx X-sub when they're back in stock; just $199.

I believe it is a sw-500 ? It is about 6 years old

Read up on the Cadence XSUB and BIC H100. Both 12inch subs, both in your budget, and most likely better then that polk.

i've only heard 2 polk subs, both sounded terrible. i would use another brand
