I know you guys don't think much of polks. Actually I have never been a big fan myself. I listened to a friend of mine A9s and had to have a set. Got them today and other than one of them damaged due to shipping trolls they sound even better in my setup. The mid range performance of these speakers is what pulled me in. You may want to give them a try. I like them but thats just me.

As a matter of fact I just listened to a pair of them at the Future shop today (might have been the RTiA7) side by side with the much more expensive RC-70 and the slightly cheaper but bigger Klipsch. My first impression was that I preferred the Polk over the RC-70. It wasn't until after I A/B the two by quickly adjust the volume knob to roughly level match them that I was finally convinced the RC-70 did sound better but not by much.

It certainly sounds way better than the Klipsch. I would rank them at the top in that price group.

Wow! The Polk Rti A9 is for sure a very big speaker.
I do agree with Peng that after careful listening, the Energy RC-70 seems to have a bit better resolution and finesse, with an overall better fully balanced sound. But the difference is not Black & White, for sure. These Polks sure can rattle your room with powerful bass.

But for my own personal taste, I'll pick a pair of Paradigm Reference Studio 60 v.6 speakers. :)
But, that's just me.

Who wouldn't? The latest Studios (V5, or really 6 now? I lost track) are really nice but I bet they cost at least twice as much as the RTiA9.

You like those better than your 2.5's?

A very unfair comparison. The Studio series of Paradigm matches up against Polk's LSi series. The Paradigm Monitor series is what matches against the Polk RTiA.

based on their ratings, the RTiA 9 has a higher sensitivity and wider frequency response than the LSi 15. Same price...

Yes, I have to say I like them much better. The 2.5s sound very good but different. Much more laid back. Wish I could have listened to more options this time but not many audio shops in my area. For my budget these fit the bill.

Did you read the title of the thread?

* The Polk Rti A9 retails for $1,750/pair USA.
* The Energy RC-70 retails for $2,000/pair USA.
* The Paradigm Reference Studio 60 v.5 retails for $1.998/pair USA.

--> No mention of Polk LSi9 in here. Just you. ;)
And you got yourself all mixed up in the model from each brand vs. the other model of the other brand, from your post. ;)
So, overall, from the three lines of your post, you got wrong three times.
~ Must be some type of a record. ;) [Total number of words in your post, is twenty-six].

Cheers,

Bob

If your going to compare speakers you should probably use what is equivalent in each line. The RTI A9 are the top end floor stander from Polk in the RTI series which would be comparable to the Studio 100 (with is Paradigm top speaker in the studio line) your talking a $600 difference.

But then again, what does any of that have to do with the OP?

Stop with the personal insults Bob or your gone for good, last warning. I'm tired of getting reported posts from other members.
