Polk PSW650 LFE -IN- HELP

Hi guys,

I must say I have been out of the loop in the last 4 years regarding HT stuff. Recently I made a jump back into it. So far I have been happy with my New buying choices.
Too start I have a old Polk PSW650 Sub that I used many years ago and it has been in storage. I recently pulled it out to hook up to my new Yamaha receiver.
The last time I used this Sub I used a old Pioneer receiver and basically hooked my speakers into the sub. I know that is old school. But recently I hooked up a RCA cable from the Sub LFE/SUBWOOFER -IN- going to the back of my Yamaha Subwoofer -OUT- plug. Under setup I made sure under the Yamaha setup I put for info on sub set to BOTH. I am not getting any BASS at all, and I tried everything. The only thing I have not tried is a 3-in-1 rca cable? The cable show on the Sub side (1)LFE (1) RED -IN- (1) WHITE -IN- total of 3 RCA on the sub side going into (1) RCA plug on the receiver side? Would this help? I am wondering if I should just bail from this Sub for a new one? I am planning on a new front setup anyways.

From looking at the Subwoofer, I would plug the RCA from the Sub out on the receiver, to either the White or Red (L or R) on the sub. Either connection should give you signal, as they are internally connected I believe....

Now you have to check on your New Yamaha 2700 Reciever,
Some of them have On Screen setup, so you can check all the settings, and Make sure you have turned the sub output on, also I would suggest that you set them all to small, and crossover the speakers to the sub at 80hz....

Check those things out first, and see what you come up with, it might well be that the receiver isn't putting signal out for a sub, until you turn it on...

Hope that helps...

BTW, good job on listing some of the speakers that you are going to audition, and try as many as you can... Great start !!!! Good Luck, and Happy hunting, that where the fun starts..

Lucky,
Have you run YPAO and run the test tones so that your receiver will recognize the addition of a subwoofer?

Do this..... hook-up your mic and run YPAO, and see if test tones are sent to & played by your subwoofer. Until you configure your receiver by running YPAO test tones, your receiver might not recognize the addition of a sub.

PS.... do not try a 3-in-1 cable(whatever that is...LOL), because it's not your problem. All you need is one cable running from the receiver-out....... to the sub-in. It doesnt matter if you plug it into the 'right or left' input.

Update my SUB is not working. Took it down to the local HT store plugged it in and NOTHING. I will have my brother-n-law take a look at it and make sure all insides are working ok.

Thanks
