Polk Monitor70s and CS2 center

I recently picked up a Polk CS2 center speaker and a pair of Monitor 70s. This is my first time building any type of audio system so I wanted some opinions from more knowledgeable people.

I paid a $425 ($470 after taxes) for the CS2 and two M70s, was this a good deal? I still have a chance to return them.

Does anybody know how these speakers perform? I'm not going to require too much from them, the room I'm setting these up in isn't too big. I'm planning on buying a pair of M40/M50s for rears and a sub in the future.

Also, what do I need to look for when I'm shopping for a receiver? I really have no clue what the first thing to look for is.

This site has them for $440 with no tax or shipping....but rather buy them locally like you did for a few bucks more....Try going on Crutchfields site....they have some good basic primers on "how to choose" components explaining basics better that 50 detailed responses here...
