Polk CS2 tweeter: Easily destroyed?

I just purchased a Polk CS2 center channel and am quite pleased with it. It is a tremendous difference over my blows VCS-10. However, I have done some reading and found that the 1" silk dome tweeter has a reputation for being easily blown.

- Has anyone here experienced this?
- How can I avoid it?

Also, it is connected to an ~8 year old receiver - a JVC RX-888VBK. I know the tweeter is not blown yet so I will definitely watch the volume level. I do plan to replace this receiver when money permits. Probably something from Marantz.

This will only be a problem if you crank it up and your receiver can't handle it; meaning not having enough power is more often the cause of damaged drivers rather than too much. Even if it does get damaged, the tweeter is likely not very expensive.

I'm using that same center now, and it's being powered by a Yamaha RX-V1600 and I've cranked some movies up pretty loud, and never had any issues with it.

I have the CS1. I think it has the same tweeter as the CS2--"1-inch Fabric/Polymer Composite Dynamic Balance Dome Tweeter with powerful Neodymium magnet." I sometimes play extremely loud music on my system (though not to clipping levels) if I'm in the adjacent kitchen and want to hear loud music while I cook or wash dishes. My CS1 is almost one year old now, and it's doing great. I, too, am using a late-1990s AVR.

I've used a Polk system with I believe these tweeters all around and it's fairly old now and gets played damn near every day for hours, sometimes loudly and these speakers haven't given anyone any trouble.
