Polk Audio TSi 300 vs. Mirage OMNI 550 CH vs. Suggestions

Im looking for advice on what to get. I'm a college student, looking for a pair of floorstanding speakers, best sound for the money, I mostly listen to music, will have to worry about parties but I am responsible when it comes to my stuff. The receiver im using is an HK3770. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Check out newegg for the Polk monitors. I got my M70(shipped) for less than the R50 you have listed.

Thanks, well in that case I'll add the Polk Audio Monitor 50/60/70's to the list.

I would also add the Infinity Primus 362 that you can pick up from Fry's occasionally for $99/ea.

Yes, Fry's has the Polk 70's for $199 shipped I believe. Hard to beat that deal :)

Cant find that deal on their site but ya Newegg has them for that. Do I have to worry about being able to power them?

Those MS 906i's look nice and the price sure is right. Have you heard them or have any more info. Internet info seems very limited.

I don't know much about them but it seems they are more of a film speaker according to one person. I'll look into them but they are a little bit pricey as of right now.

So I went to the pawn shop today and they do in fact have what appears to be this model years TSi 300 in black and good shape for $200. I think I am going to go with these unless you guys recommend otherwise. I am still really tempted to buy the Mirage's but iffy on the type of sound without testing them out.

It's not a bad price. Aren't they the replacments for the monitor 50's? If so, you'll want a sub to fill in the bottom end.

I believe the TSi is just the junction between the Monitor and RTi series. Reviews say they are a large improvement from the Monitors and the place the lack are a segment of the lower mids.

I just got replacement woofers for my PA R20's, the set for $100 which is alright by me.

Well I ended up buying the TSi 300's for $200 out the door and they sound great. Got test out some jazz still but so far have tested them with the classics. Play Smooth by Santana the way it picked up the electric was incredible. I don't have the most discerning ears but I know they i've heard (not saying much).\

I also picked up Kenwood KS-201 sub for in great shape for $40 bucks. Its 8 ohm and a 100 watts. Now I just have to figure out how or if I can wire them up with my two channel amp. Its probably a piece of junk but I couldn't resist myself when she offered to take 20 off the price.

Thanks everyone once again for your help and information. I'm gonna take a picture here in a minute to show off the beginner setup.
