oh yeah they are, i bought one about 3 years back. At the time they were selling for 300, i talked the sales guy down to 150 and thought i got a good deal. The sub sucked and i ended up returning it and it has put me off subs

Polk subs have the worst reputation in the world probably because all of polk subs and speakers are now made in china. I wouldn't buy one at any price. Save your money and buy a quality sub that will last you a good 10 years.

China has nothing to do with it. Some manufacturers make good speakers and not so great subs. Some make good subs and not so great speakers. AV123 can do a good job with both. Infinity has some good subs and some crappy subs. Ed makes good subs. I'll stop at that. Store bought subs are a complete rip-off most of the time. It's a lot cheaper and easier to build your own.

lol i dont know why people fall into the mindeset that, if its made in China, its horrrrrible..like American made products are the be all, end all. Im convinced that almost every electronic equipment you buy has at least 1 part coming from China..

Yeah... the China comment is a fairly ignorant statement. In fact, Chinese audio gear (particularly at Head-Fi and other headphone places) have been getting alot of praise for producing great bang for the buck equipment.

It's because they have lower QA standards in many factories that this idea pervades. Of course China is not a backwards nation and is highly industrilized One might argue they are better at manufacturing than us even.
