Andy,

I heard the entire LSi series at the HT Expo2002, let me just say this, WOW. I was never a huge fan of Polk for music, but the LSi is a whole new ballgame compared to their RT series.

The best bet would be to get a pair LSi9s, and a SVS or HS sub to hi the lower octaves. But the LSi9s have phenominal imaging.

Aren't those the ones Anthony Cordesman raved in TAS? The Vifa Ring Radiator is a pretty highly regarded tweeter. So far I've never heard a bad word about the Polks.

There's at least one guy at AudioCircle who uses them and feels they handily bested the B&W speakers he also auditioned at several times the price.

out of shere mobid curiosity I should point out that I have every intention of getting a pair of LSi15's next month. But now that it comes to it, I realize that they have been out for like 4 years. They were no doubt one of the first generation speakers made specifically for SACD music. But in reading all of the newer advances with hardware like a/v receivers and cables and the like, I wonder if there is something in the $1500-$2000 price range that sounds really great in Classical, "rap", and rock. I really don't care how they sound in movies. I also am looking for a speaker that is as close to full range as possible. The LSi15 claim to go down to 22 hz, but I want it to get there and speak it loudly! I know I will one day have to get a better sub, but really I am looking for a mid-fi setup with maybe one or two fantastic pieces added each year. My first purchase, for example, will be a better amp like the Denon 4306 or 4806. Also, I really don't care about the center or rears . . . not yet. I listen to music. In stereo.
