Polk Audio 6700 v. Boston Acoustics 515

Any thoughts on surround sound speaker packages? I have narrowed my
search down to the Polk Audio 6700 (w/psw 303 subwoofer) and the
Boston Acoustics 515 systems. The reviews I've read seem to give the
nod to the PA6700. I'm esentially looking for the best surround sound
speaker package for under $1000. Any thoughts?

Also, I tried to check out the PA6700 at Circuit City yesterday and
was told by them that PA is no longer producing that system as they
will soon introduce a new model. Consequently, I didn't get to hear
the system. The PA website says zip about a new system. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I personally 100% back the polk. I've heard boston sattelite offerings from BA but I dunno bout the model. The Polks are really great (I own a set). You may also want to look at definitive technology, or energy. Those are 2 of the best (and the polk ranks with them).

Check out reviews A Cnet.com And Polk site.
The only negative thing I have heard on RM 6700,s, is that there is not enough Base in sat,s Good Sub fixs that.
If U have A small room 6700,s with PSW303 should be great.
I bought them with a sub upgrade to PSW404 & Csi3 center for 6.1 system. being inpactient I returned them after only 3 weeks. and upgraded to Rti4,s front and back kept Csi3 center & psw404. I thought something was missing from sound, and that the size of my room was probably why. I was sitting 9'from fronts, center, & sub, with rears 4' behind. Polk customer service was great, every time i called for help.
Had I placed my speekers properly, and waited for them to break in, I think I would have been Happy with the little guys. Im new to this stuff myself.

This site gave me a great tip, when placing speekers use a lazer pointer to make sure positioned properly.
Oh YA paied under $1200 Canadian For PSW404 Cis3 and Rm6700,s hell of a lot petter prices in US, shop around. Good luck

have nothing on other set sorry

Polk controls prices so are pretty much the same at every store. Even Circuit City has the "except Polk and Bose" like when advertising financing deals or % off all speakers. With the price control, Crutchfield becomes a player with no sales tax and free shipping (including return shipping) on bookshelf and smaller. All are cheaper on the 6700 than what Polk advertises on their web site.

Something strange is going on with Polk and Circuit City. Last month I noticed the RTi line on 'sale' that was not matched across town at Tweeters (Sound Advice). Tweeters recently started carrying Polk as they dropped the Boston line. Yesterday was in Circut City and saw all Polks (HTIB, bookshelves, and towers) with "Clearance" price tags - not Sale or Open Box. Asked the clerk if Circuit City was dropping the line which was denied but stated Polk coming out with new models. I thought the RTi4 and series WAS the new model displacing the R15, R20 etc.

I'm wondering if Tweeters is applying pressure on Polk to eliminate CC as a competitor in the same territority since they also carry the LSi line

In answer to your question - which ever sound best to you. If possible, try an in-home A/B comparison. Crutchfield and Circuitcity make it easy with their 30 day return policy.
