Has anyone seen this going around the web?

Whoever wrote it doesn't seem to understand the reason we help Israel, or the fact third world countries have little military. The writer does make a point that we don't have enough money to turn the entire world democratic. The writer wants to spend money internally as opposed to externally. That is the democratic way. He's a liberal hiding behind conservative words. I deleted the last sentence that asks to send this to 10 people. Feel free to pick this apart - especially our Canadian friends.

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans:

As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is now complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American
forces from Iraq . This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries
which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short.
The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the
world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France , or maybe
China .

To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal now. Just note that Camp David is closed Maybe all of you can go to Russia for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables, too. I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia . Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious
Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world I love New York .

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA
treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin."

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup Soccer from America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought. Drop dead.

God bless America .
Thank you and good night

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English,
thank a soldier.

My daughter sent this to me in an email the other day. I have it on my to-do list to give her some civic lessons.

Although the tongue is buried deep in the cheek, this is not expounding a liberal point of view as Buck suggests, but a libertarian point of view. There is quite a difference.

Is there a Martin-Logan dealership in Bagdad?...:)

A libertarian believes in less government, hanging somewhere in utopia. At what point does the government quit governing? And at what levels? This guy wants tax dollars spent inside the country eliminating hunger and homelessness. Should we keep our tax dollars local and ignore macro issues? Does foreign aide help control import prices? Is there a responsibility of first world nations to support third world nations? Maybe we should take the route China did and close our doors to everyone. What a great role model. These are the democrats speaking to you. Prove me wrong with the origination of this one.

It's a really funny email. Very patriotic too, although a little annoying. I'm a dual citizen, and I happen to be proud to be both Canadian and American. I really love the part about the "if it's in English thank a soldier". It seems like the US really came down hard on Canada because it wouldn't send troops (at least not officially) to fight in Iraq the second time. Wasn't this the war started over WOMD that didn't exist? I'm sorry but to me that war is the biggest hypcritical piece of garbage on the face of the planet. The US invaded under false pretences, using intelligence they knew to be faulty, and then justified it as a humanitarian effort. If the current administration is so worried about human rights when does the army leave for Africa? When do they invade Korea again? When do they attack China? What's up with Vietnam? This isn't fair to the American soldiers, they are not the world police, they are the finest military on the planet, bar none. There is a huge distinction there (between police and soldiers), or at least there should be. By the way my dad was USAF for 21 yrs and I lived on military bases all over the world. I was brought up to be a proud American that respected the military.

Seriously, it's pompous isolationist remarks like this email that do make other countries angry at the US. No country is gunning for Canada with the same enthusiasm as the US. I do think it's OK that the guy put Canada on a second list. Canada doesn't pull its weight with the US on several issues. For example Canada doesn't chip in for military support because we know you will pay the bill. But for all the differences I can't think of two countries that share more ties or are more alike.

All that money the US is spending on "3rd world hell holes" isn't alot. Less than 1% of GNP doesn't seem like a lot to me. Basically this guy is playing to common misconceptions and prejudices. One thing I agree on is the Diplomatic thing. Those guys get away with murder, sometimes literally. They made an episode of Law and Order based on something that happened in Canada. A drunk diplomat from the former Soviet Bloc ran over and killed a woman then fed the scene. It turns out this was his third or fourth time he had been arrested driving drunk! Oh well even foul mouthed biggots can be right once in a while.

...ab-so-friggin-lute-ly...

It's a pity one of our politicos doesn't have the b@ll$ to do it...are there oversimplifications and generalizations in it...yep, but the nub of the gist of it is right on IMO...

I'd add some domestic things to it and it would be complete...all this namby-pamby PC cr@pola needs to stop...

A significant proportion of the foreign aid given by western governments like US/UK is given to prop up friendly regimes which have strategic/economic importance. It isn't given for purely altruistic reasons and is given in the knowledge that it won't necessarily help in reducing poverty in those countries.

This guy should be pleased, since the US/UK etc. do get some money back in arm sales and interest from bank loans.

Anyone ever studied history? This guy hasn't; isolationism is part of how we (the US) got caught with our collective pants down in 1941. It isnt't the answer. The guy is narrow-minded and short-sighted. Once again I find myself largely agreeing with takereasy's well-thought posting.

I'm with takereasy on this as well.

If you want a politician to stand up and say some crazy things why not add:

We will now demand that people in the US start taking responsibilit for their own actions. In all areas.

1. If you are a welfare mom, and you get pregnant, you will be subject to an immediate abortion.
2. If your kid is dumb, his teachers will let him know and you know - you can deal with you kid and send him off as an apprentice trash collector somewhere.
3. If your teacher is dumb - he will need to find a new job... Perhaps as a trash collector somewhere.
4. If your kids fail a class - they will fail it and learn to live with it.
5. If you are involved with a crime, you will actually be punished for it swiftly.
6. If you are dead broke and declare bankruptcy, then when you get back on your feet, you can start paying some of those debts back.
7. All businesses and corporations will be subject to paying the same taxes that others must pay. Especially large corporations.
8. The 8-A program from 'minorities' will be abolished in favor of equal, open competition.
9. The term affirmative action will no longer be used for any company or government entity.

Meh - the list could be long on internal responsibilties as well.

It would be nice if our government could be a little more honest about some of the tactics and things that go on instead of so obviously manipulative and sneaky. Iraq has nothing to do with WOMD - and never has been. It is an excuse for the US to be a part of the Middle East and to work democracy into that region. It is a gamble whether it will work or not, but there is a certain amount of economic stability at stake.

The idea of it being humanitarian is almost a joke. But not really. The Middle East has so much financial stability that it offers the US through natural resources (oil) that the US must protect it and its people. We can't ignore them and hope they change. We can't spend years working towards agreements and cut off trade. We need them - and we need to be liked by them... So, in a few generations perhaps kids will be raised thinking the US is great, or at least a decent country instead of Americans being something that should be killed.

As I said - meh. Politics sucks.
Anyone that wants to run for president, should not be elected.
Anyone that we actually would elect, most definitely, should never have the job.

While intriguing and "on-the-surface" funny... it rings to me like something you would have heard spoken to gain support right before Germany started their invasion...

Other than that I'm staying out as I already find myself disagreeing with some of the comments on both sides... (PS. Corporations don't pay taxes, people do - corps, yes even large ones are owned by people and have employees. Taxing corporations just passes on those taxes to the goods/services you and I buy - as a business owner you gain a different perspective)

Try not to be so quick to add/increase taxes until you are sufficiently convinced that the government is being efficient with the 2.7+ trillion dollars per year it already gets.

Honestly, part of the reason the war was started was because W felt like he needed to finish daddy's "unfinished" or "failed" business. How much do you want to bet he and his father had a sit down, and promised 'ol dad if he did one thing while in office, it would be to nail Saddam. WOMD was an excuse, as was 9/11, to attack one country as opposed to several. Heck, the Bin-Ladin family has extremely close ties to the Bush family. Saudi-Arabia, Syria, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Afghanistan, etc...the list goes on and on, all have cells training to knock off US citizens/military. They'll never allow democracy to flourish in the middle east. You want proof? Check out the West Bank. That will be our Iraq, with a hold on some of the oil production. We'll have to put a value on life, as oil dollars will most definitely cost us American lives. We'll never, ever be able to leave Iraq if we want to manage some of that oil output. What an absolute stinkin' mess.

I'm in agreement with Clint in that this spiel falls more towards a fascist sentiment than anything else. Definately not of libertarian bent, as it tries to merely focus the state in a different direction vs limiting its scope. It could easily be a montage of sentiments taken from different segments of the population at large.

9/11 an excuse!!! Do you actually think that? Shame on you! I saw those buildings collapse...that was no excuse...it was a reason!

The fact of the matter is we are in a pickle due to our support of Israel...pure and simple...Before we sold Hawk missles to Israel in '62, our state dept. viewed them as a Zionist state and treated them as such...it was the Cold War, and with the then USSR in Egypt, we got into that whole ball of wax...it's our fault and the best thing we could do, would be to tell them all to lay off the Palestinians...and before you start with the "terrorist activities" in Israel, what do you think Begin and Dyan were doing during the British Mandate period...go read a friggin' history book...

Do you really think so? That's funny because from what I understand Bush Sr. didn't march into Baghdad because his advisors told him that what would happen is exactly what's happening now. Getting bogged down. I doubt very much he would then have turned around and advised his son to do it.

So you put Saddam as the culprit why those buildings collapsed? You probably believe Saddam financed the entire mission. Your Bin-Ladin is still on the loose. Get a clue. Bin-Ladin has no home field. History books haven't had time to be written on this issue. They will be. Trust me.

I agree with you that we are in the mess we are due to Isreal. Our support of the Jewish nation puts us in a bind. We have more Jewish supporters in the states than you can imagine, and there's no where to go unless we move the Israeli state to Montana. Jewish PAC's dictate how much we send to Isreal. And we send quite a bit. We've basically built their military from the ground up. Their air force is second to none. And before you go tellin' people to read a history book, remember what Hitler did to the Jews, and how we responded in helping them build a Jewish nation.

Yes, and taking that (IMO good) advice was, from a consertative veiwpoint, a serious tarnish on daddy Bush"s presidency. So Colin Powell out, Cheney/Rumsfeld in, WAR on... NICE!

I can't believe I got drawn into this mess. Let's talk speakers and AMPs ;) .

Dont canonize America just yet

American govermnent is not as much of a saint as you might want to believe. India has been facing terrorism from Pakistan for decades, yet USA is going to give Pakistan F-16's in exchange for permission to open US bases there. Here is the article in particular,
http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/article.asp?ID=3103

Pakistan should have been branded a terrorist nation years ago, but then US would never be allowed to open bases there. Whats funny is that even though Pakistan is poverty stricken, more thatn 40% of their budget allocation if for "defence". I wonder what good those F-16's will do for the hungry and sick.

Another example, when India was trying to develop its space program, US blocked the sale of the cryogenic rocket engine technology to India, siting security issues. Here is the article for that,
http://www.nti.org/db/nisprofs/russia/exports/rusind/missovr.htm

India would be able to put satellites in space if it had the technology sooner, and that would mean less money for USA since only 5 countries have that capability. It cost the country 10 years, lots of resources, capital to develop the technology for themself, but they did it :)

That said, US gives some aid to India too. To date, India has received the equivalent of $13 billion in U.S. economic assistance ($52.7 billion in today's dollars). The nature of this economic assistance has been based on the Indian government's requests and its changing requirements as the economy developed. Here is the link to the article,
http://www.usaid.gov/in/UsaidInIndia/history.htm

And then compare it to the money spent on the Iraq war, $150-300 Billion!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are the details,
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0408-08.htm
