The Pioneer Elite VSX52TX certainly deliver the power, but I’m missing the high and the low and it surprised me, in particular the sub is not delivering a tight sound it is with Distortion every day I succeed to improve the sound a bit (playing with the large and small, yes ands plus in the SP) now I'm set to all "large" and the SUBW at "plus” at 150Kh it is make a different but I'm not yet there. Maybe someone can give me more information.
At the store they inform me that this Pioneer Elite is more for MOVIS and less for MUSIC I don’t believe because of Pioneer well known in the music world
This amp is well-known as soft with lots of power.
My speakers are all CELSTION front 120 back 100 center 100 subw 150 (8 ohm 90db)

What are the response numbers for your speakers? That is the most important thing. Your speakers should actualy be set to small in about 90% of all cases. If setting them to large seems to sound better, then something else is not setup correctly, most likely the crossover. You should set the crossover as low as your speakers can handle so that the sub is only working on the lowest content and your midrange remains mostly in the speakers and is not being passed to the sub. Next would be placement within the room, the room size and your seating position relative to the speakers as well as getting them calibrated to the correct levels with an SPL meter.

Just because a manufacturer is well known in music doesn't mean the home equipment they make is going to be great, because one hand doesn't necessarily know what the other is doing.

Thank you for the information, I did not have the chance to play with my new amp and to check the response numbers for my speakers. This is the only part I did not touch when I did the setup. I understand that the best sound should actually be set to small in about 90% of all cases. the only reason I was set it to large was because of the sub not delivering, I was not happy with all large and as much I listen to more concerts as much I feel the difference.
I will let you know after I will Play with the response numbers I really curious.

Your sub is getting less information sent to it when you set your other speakers to large. If this receiver doesn't have MCACC, I would recommend you pick up an SPL meter and do a speaker level calibration. If it does have MCACC, you should run it first. Your sub is probably not set correctly and there are two adjustments - one on the sub and one in the receiver - both need to be adjusted relative to one another. The speaker distance settings will also affect your overall sound.

I own a Pioneer 1015TX which is similar to the Elite VSX52TX from all accounts. I'm sure your set-up menu is close to what mine is.

When I ran the MCACC originally it automatically set the speakers to large and I too experienced the same thing, nothing from the sub. As it turned out the sub is automatically turned off by MCACC.

I wasn't satisfied with the overall sound either. I went into manual speaker set-up and set the fronts to "small". In the manual it states that unless you're not running a sub, you should set speakers to "small". Sub needs to be turned to "yes".

From there I experimented with cross-over points at both 50 and 80 and for some reason I like 80 a bit more. It rounded out the sound nicely. You can tweak more from there but I left all the other settings as is as I figure the auto calibration took care of most of it properly. There are many other manual tweaks to experiment with so it's reallly just a case of reading over the manual and trusting your ears when it comes to the type of sound your looking for.

Hope that helps.

Cheers...
