Does anyone use the banana plugs to connect the speakers to the receiver? Are they worth it? It seems like they would be easier to use than bare wires.

Buy the LOCKING Banana plugs.

I bought all of mine from Blue Jeans Cable.

I hate the regular banana plugs because they come loose after a while.

I prefer the locking ones also. Definitely easier than bare wire.

Personally, I think bananas are a good idea if you want an installation that requires you to unplug and plug speakers from time to time. Virtually all audio dealers use them, as an example. If the plan is to install the speakers and leave them, then solder-tinned bare wire makes a stronger and more secure connection.

Solder tinned wire will not give you a more secure connection than locking bananas. I used to solder, but bananas are just so much simpler and just as effective. Other than the solder type, they are reusable too, so it is more or less a one time purchase.

Well im about to move everything around and that means i have to disconnect all 7 speakers and then do it all over again. I would rather stop the hassel now for future moves. I just bought them from monoprice anyways. But no sound quality lost correct?

We'll disagree on that one. I can suspend my speakers off the floor with the speaker cable. You can't do that with a banana.

With the locking ones I most certainly can, not that I would. The locking bananas apply pressure inside the recepticle and hold much tighter than I thought they could. I was moving some things around the other day and I accidentally pulled on a wire - it pulled my whole receiver which is 42lbs.
