Pls help with new floor speakers for budget system

Newbie here and need a bit of help.

I am faced with my paradigm 5se ( original owner ) woofer packing it in on one speaker. So I have started looking around to what I should get into. I live in Canada, so shipping is an issue as is the dollar conversion at the moment.

I have a media room, and a pretty small budget for some new front speakers. I have a klipsch sub 8" , my centre channel is klipsch, as are my rear surrounds. oh and my reciver is a Denon avr-688.

I was using my paradigms for my main speakers but now one of my woofers makes this horrible distorted sound when people talk, or there is low level music playing in the background ( ie when the movie starts etc) so I can replace my woofer for around 100.00 or shop for a new set of speakers.

Here is what I have dug up, but pls- i am open to ANY suggestions. As I said, I am really new at this but really love watching movies down in my room. I would say I am 90/10 Movies / Music in this room. I like good product but on an entry level as is my receiver, and existing speakers. These are some ideas that i found from other peoples suggestions in different threads.

Friend your post is hard to understand.

Is your speaker broken?

Did you blow it out?

In the 100 range get a pair of Beta 20s off ebay.

You will need stand for them though.

klipsch rf-35's

bought some Klipsch rf-35's to replace the paradigm's.
i have them set to large, and cut off at 80mhz. movies sound good but tv sounds poor. i also notice that my treble isnt as high as my old paradigms. not as crisp. any suggestions on how to go about changing this? I have a denon AVR-688 . Very new to setting up a system, so any suggestions would be great. I also have klipsch center, 10" sub, and some bookshelf speakers.

First off, if you have the speakers set to "large" you are not crossed over at anything. Start by setting speakers to small. The Paradigms and Klipsch have a very different sound so the highs are not going to sound like what you are used to.

Dawg said it all. Speakers make the most difference in sound not the amp. The difference in Treble is the different speakers. They are going to sound different. You can play around with the settings but two different brands are not going to sound the same that's why there are so many out there.

If you are talking oabout vocal on the TV, concentrate on the center speaker. Assuming it sounded good before, make sure the center level is high enough in relationship to your front speakers; you might have to increase the center dB level.

Another possiblity is to go back and buy ( if you budget allows) the matching center for your new RF35 fronts. In order to maintain timbre (seamless front sound) the center should match the fronts. This is especially importnat from a movie and TV vocal standpoint.
