Hi everyone, this is a great and informative site. Great knowledge material. I have a problem that I cannot solve. I have a Onkyo Tx-SR601 reciever with Bose acoustimass surround speakers. O.k. I have five double cubed speakers with a sub that is attached with the wires that are coming out of the back. Anyway, here's the problem, when I am configuring my speakers I hear hissing noises in all speakers. I have component cables coming out of my DVD player going into the back of my Samsung 61" DLP. And I have a optical audio cable coming out of the DVD player going into the back of the reciever (Onkyo). Now, I pop in a movie, Van Helsing, I do not hear any surround sound but when I pop in Bourne Identity, I hear surround sound.
Also, I have Dish Network 811 set top box and I have a DVI cable going out of the box directly into the back of the T.V and a optical audio going out of the box to the reciever. When I am watching analog channels, I also do not hear any surround sound, also, when I change the channel to HD channel, my reciever does not change to Dolby/EX, or something like that. Ultimetly, what I am trying to say, I do not hear surround sound even when watching T.V. I also need a suggestion on a OTA HD antenna, because I cannot watch any primetime programs that are broadcasted in HD. I subscribe to Dish Network's HD package and I only get 5 channels. It looks great in HD
Thanks for any feedback
