I'm trying to convert old vhs home videos to DVD. I just tried out a device called Dazzle DVD Recorder that came with Pinnacle software. JUNK JUNK JUNK!!! The video would jump, sound not in sync and it would not burn to a dvd!! So I sent that back today. I have decided just to get a VHS/DVD recorder combo that can just copy the VHS right to the DVD. My budget is about $175.00. I really am buying this just to convert these vhs tapes. I already have a DVD player hooked up to my Denon AVR-2807 and a playstation that plays blueray, so I don't need all the bells and whistles!! I just want a good video transfer to DVDs. To edit my videos, I'll just burn the DVDs to my external hard drive. So can you guys recommend something to me? Thanks!

I don't know if this will be much help to you, but I suggest checking out customer reviews of those units. That's how I do it. I look at places like Amazon, Crutchfield, and Circuit City to see how electronics are rated by other people.

I don't own one, so I can't recommend one in particular. I do have a USB device for my Mac that lets me record off of an external A/V device (like a VCR) that worked just fine for me. It's a previous version of the El Gato EyeTV Hybrid.
