Hello Everyone,
I need help choosing a Processor. The more I read The more I do not know which brand to go with. I am new to the HT world so any input would be greatly appreciated. My system consists of all Paradigm speakers: Monitor 7 V.4 fronts, CC-350, Mini -monitor rears and PS-1000 sub. My components so far are a B&K Reference 7250 amp(200x5), currently running through a Denon AVR-2105 as my preamp. I am selling the receiver so I can get processor. I have a strict budget of about $1000.00 so everything I have been looking at is used. I thought it would make sense to go with a matching preamp such as a B&K REF 30, but there are so many other reputible brands out there that my head is starting to spin(Rotel, Outlaw, Parasound, etc). Hopefully some of you guys out there can steer me in the right direction on what brands to look closely at and what brands to stay away from. Thanks, Newbie

Your best bet is to get a Yamaha 2500 receiver and use the preamp outs. It has a very high quality preamp section, probably as good if not better than the ones you mention.

I second the yamaha recommendation. You would be hard pressed to find a dedicated pre-amp with the same feature set for $800. You can also use the onboard amps to power speakers in another zone or the Rear surround channels.

Or, you could just stay with what you have if it has all the processing options you need. After all, you have sunk money into it and what you may gain, doubtful, may be very elusive.
