What would you people recommend for a receiver, if your tight for bucks, but want to get something that would complement the good speakers I bought my brother, the Def BP7004. he is not interested in surround sound 5.1, but good two channel stereo. may add a sub-woofer later? Would digital inputs improve streio, optical/coaxial improve stereo much? Music is his major interest, but good TV sound would be nice but not surround. What do you suggest?? How much watts would be good enough, and sounds good, and no super blasting is involved. It would get him kicked out of his apartment.

What I like about alot of you people here is that if there is money to save and not waste it, this is the place to be!! Bob

Sorry, I should have put this in the Amps, pre-amps section. Maybe it can be moved?

DefTech rates the speakers at 92db, so almost any receiver should be enough to drive them. An additional thing to look for would be what type (if any) of room correction they offer.

Dougg, just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate, your suggesstion about the Harman Kardon. I called about the 3485, and they replaced it with the 3490, which has two digital in puts, and 120watts. So it will be perfect. Would never have found it without your input!!:) I O U a case of your favorite beverage! THANKS Again
