Hi.

I need help connecting my old TEAC EQA-10 graphic equalizer to my Marantz SR4200 receiver. I haven't used the equalizer for years, and when i did last use it it hooked up through the tape deck (which i no longer have). can anyone tell me how i can connet these two.

any help much appreciated.

Doesn't your reciever have its own built-in equalizer? Most newer pieces have these kinds of features.

Does the receiver have a tape monitor loop? If so, tape 1 out to eq in, and eq out to tape 2 in and then select the tape monitor. Nonetheless it's proably not a good idea to use an eq anyway - I highly doubt the receiver will route signals that arrive via one of the digital inputs to the tape out (after D/A), but you can try it.

The only way to utilize an older 10 band eq on todays newer receivers would be to run your cd player into the "input" on the eq, and run rca's "out" to the receiver's "cd in." This is a two channel eq, and not meant to adjust the frequencies of a digital source such as a dvd player - especially running it with a digital coax cable. There's no way to properly control it with pre-outs. Plus, there's no switchable tape monitor on these units.
