on my old head unit i only had one set of pre-amp outputs and i had to use y adaptors to connect to my 5 channel amplifier. on my new alpine deck it has three sets of pre-amp outputs(front, rear, and sub). I am getting ready to add the pxa-h100 imprint software to my alpine head unit. I was wondering if i should go ahead and run three rca's to each pre-amp out,(run one to the front speaker, rear speakers, and sub). The reason i was wondering if i should do this is because on the pxa-h100 imprint software when you go to install it to your alpine deck it has the same three pre-amp outputs(front, rear and sub) Overall my question is should i run the three rca's to each pre-amp output or would it be ok to leave the y adaptor hooked up the way it is and just plug it into the imprint software. Basically I want to know which way will give me the best overall sound in my truck, which way do you think is better run new rca's to all three pre-amp outputs or leave it how it is with the y adaptor? thank you very much for your time and please help!!!!

thanks :)

You kind of lost me here, but here's the cardinal rule of "Y" adapters.

You CAN use them to split one output to several inputs, but you should NEVER use them to combine several outputs to one input.

Hope that helps...

less connections the better

i too have to reqire my car system ive got 4 6x9 and 2 5 1/4 speakers plus 2 10" subs and 2 tweeter and i only have 3 sets of preouts on my head unit

so the front 6x9 go to the right front and the 5 1/4 " in the back doors got to the left front channel and then the 2 extra 6x9 facing front behind both backseats get the full power of left and right rear channel and then the 2 subs get full power too.

yes it is fubar, sometimes it sounds reall really good and other times some speakers over power others so i am thinking about disabling the rear 5" and just having full power for the 4 6x9 but i can make up my mind if i should just get rid of the extra
