This is for my master bedroom. I want to get some speakers hooked up as the sound coming from my TV isnt stellar. I have a cable box, appletv, and a dvd player (all use HDMI). I am looking for a small a/v receiver so i can hook up all the components and have speakers to provide better sound. It would be even better if the unit had a built in dvd player, but that isnt necessary. I found harmon kardon has one (BDS 370) but I don't want to spend $900 on it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

What do you mean "small"

Physically, price, or feature-wise?

In any case, please state the criteria, mainly maximum dimensions or maximum price

In any case, I'd avoid that Pyle unit. No specific reason, but anyone that proudly puts PMPO power ratings in their spec sheet will always cause me to raise an eyebrow.

I dont wanna spend more than a few hundred bucks and I dont want it to be too much bigger than a regular sized dvd player.

You're really not being too specific.

I just got a wireless internet ready Sont blu-Ray player that's 12 1/2" w X 8" d X 1 1/4" h

"Regular" size DVD players come anywhere from less than a 12" to 17" wide and about 1 1/2" high on up.

A "few" is relative as well.

That Marantz mentioned above (and a thin dvd/Blu-Ray) might be your best bet.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Have you considered getting an amplified sound bar?

Yeah, I would go with a sound bar from one of the many manufacturers if your budget is low. For the money, you can't expect much out of a receiver, BD player, etc, so just getting an all-in-one sound bar is not a bad way to go and offers a significant step up in audio quality from what your TV will deliver.

Just a few hundred MSRP:
Surround Sound Speakers from SurroundBar® - Polk Audio

and that's a problem how?
Slimline Marantz have 4 HDMI 1.3 ports - So - yes to 1080p, but not big NO to 3D stuff if you are interested in it
