Howdy fellow audio freaks.

I am still working away getting the basement theatre room in order but have decided to start the process of figuring out my required treatments (pre order parts). I already have plans for the windows and sliding door. But i'm curious about where I should put DIY treatments and how many I will need for best results. I've read alot about the issue but I get  "Freaked" out cause their is just so much to learn. Another struggle is the bulkhead throughout the room, not sure how to deal with that.

So here is some information that could help you help me.

Just take your time. The basics:

Broadband bass control in corners where you can.

Symmetry in front of the listener is very important.

Kill the front wall dead in a multi-channel environment.

Address side wall reflection points

Place your seating in a good position and tweak speaker/sub location for smoothest response.

Address the wall behind you with absorbtion (thick) if you have a null off the rear wall (most rooms do).

This is not going to totally work but here is a layout of treatment that might get you thinking in the right direction.

Let me know if you have any questions at all.

I'd be worried about that bulkhead. Looks to me like the main trunk for the furnace is inside it. A room in my basement looks just like that. The furnace trunk is made from tin sheeting and makes a lot of noise itself just moving heated air !
Its too late now without tearing the drywall down, but if my home theater was going to be in the same room with this, I would have tight wrapped that trunk with insulation before the drywall went in.
Maybe I'm over analyzing, but i've always been an overkill guy.
I can just hear that sheet metal singing from here !
Maybe soundproofing the drywall surfaces will stop it if it happens?

Love to hear how this works out, perhaps my concerns are unwarranted !

On a random side note - how do you like your table saw - Bosch 4007? I am considering gettting one.
