I have a Pioneer Elite (vsx-23thx) receiver that powers my 5.1 home theater.
I have a separate home audio system with about nine zones throughout the house. The audio system is uses a Mac as the source, hooked to a Niles SI-275 amp, which is then hooked to a Niles MSA-10A speaker selector and off throughout the house to all the various speakers.
I'd like to connect the two systems so that we can push Sirius from the Dish TV (or football games, etc) through the home audio system.
My Pioneer receiver has pre-outs that look like speaker-wire connectors. I can connect these pre-outs directly into the speaker selector, but the sound is unamplified in the home audio system, so I need to figure out how to connect the pre-outs to the Niles SI-275 amp.
The pre-outs are speaker-wire connectors and the Niles has RCA red/white plugs for the one and only "main input."
Can I safely connect the pre-out speaker wires to the RCA red/white "main input" on the Niles amp? I believe Radio Shack sells a cable that satisfies both ends.
Not sure if that's the way to go or not, so I thought I'd ask the experts...
Thanks in advance.
