I'm VERY new to this home theater thing and have been taking the advice of a friend who has an old system that seems to work very nicely for him. Any way I have purchased Triad gold LCR's and Triad surrounds The problem is they are all 4 ohm. The LCR's have a sensitivity of 92 but the surrounds have a sensitivity of 86. I have recently invested quite a bit of money into a receiver that no longer works because I didn't know it wouldn't push 4 ohms. So seeing that I have descent speakers, I need to know what a descent preamp / receiver would be. Specific model # wouold be best. Also is ther eanybody out there running Triad and what do you use. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Before you decide to go with separates, you might want to consider finding a receiver with preamp outputs for all channels. Often, such receivers are less expensive than comparable preamp/processors. You then can use the receiver as a preamp/processor. It might seem odd that you can get "paid" to take power amplifiers that are built into receivers, but this is likely due to mass production; most people buy receivers, so they are made in vast quantities. Most of the decent brands have models with preamp outputs, though many of the low end models do not have this. A cheap power amp that should work with your speakers is:

Depending on how many 4 ohm speakers you have, you may need 2, 3, or even 4 of these for your system, as they are 2 channel amplifiers, so one would be needed for each 2 speakers that are 4 ohms (assuming, of course, that the receiver you select cannot properly handle 4 ohm speakers).
Basically, what you need to look for is amplification that is rated for 4 ohm speakers.
