hello all,

i'm new to this speaker system and receiver. please give me some advices on my setting.

i just bought:
two Klipsch - Icon Triple 5-1/4" 2-Way Floorstanding Speaker (Each) - Espresso (Model: WF-35)

and 1 Onkyo TX-SR805

I set up the speakers and the receiver last night, but i do not know if i'm doing it correctly.

i read the Onkyo manual and did the Bi-AM set up.
FRONT LEFT and SUR BACK LEFT to the left speaker and FRONT RIGHT AND SUR BACK RIGHT to the right speaker. That's how it shows in the manual.

When i go into the Speaker Setup menu from the Onkyo. I see that my Subwoofer is ON, Full Band is ON, FRONT LEFT, FRONT RIGHT, SUR BACK LEFT, SUR BACK RIGHT are ON.

Again, I only have two front speakers. My question:

Do i turn off the Subwoofer? the SUR BACK LEFT and SUR BACK RIGHT???

one more question: i went into the Level Calibration. Everything is set to 0db. Is that a standard setting or what level should I set each speaker to?

What I am using this for? I have a PS3 which I use to play game and watch blu-rays. I use the HDMI cable and connect it to the receiver.

right now, the audio output of the PS3 is PCM, I will set it to Bitstream when i get a chance tonight. Anyone has opion on PS3 output, please give me some advices as well. Thank you.

Any advice(s) would be very appreciated ...

I would try just running the speakers in normal mode. Bi amping really doesn't do that much for your sound. Hook up the speakers to front L/R .Your settings on the onkyo should be set to large unless you are running a subwoofer. If you have a sub you may want to set the receiver to small for the fronts meaning frequencies in the low spectrum will be sent to your sub while everything else frequency wise will be sent to the fronts....Good luck

"Hook up the speakers to front L/R .Your settings on the onkyo should be set to large"

??? What do you mean by setting my onkyo to LARGE? I'm new to everything. If you can states this in more detail then I would understand. =)

Thank you.

Your speakers should be hooked to your receiver front left and front right. I would not bi-amp them, meaning your speakers should have little metal plates that connect the top and bottom of your speaker posts so you can send 1 set of speaker wires to each speaker instead of 2 sets. Your receiver should have a speaker size setting(refer to your manual) if you are running a subwoofer out of your Onkyo then you can set the speakers to "small" or depending on your sub you can leave your receiver settings alone or set them according to the manual.

Read some of these to give you a clearer idea of what you need to do.

You need to properly set up your receiver to maxiumize your system. You need to run Audyssey and calibrate before you'll hear any improvement. It is also very confusing as well for people new to this hobby. Sometimes, you'll need to read and re-read many times. To this day, I am not even sure if I set up mine correctly.

No speaker "large" seting sub=Yes or No

you Onkyo TX-SR805 manual is located online a: http://63.148.251.135/redirect_service.cfm?type=own_manuals&file=TX-SR805_875_B_En.pdf

To set you speaker levels you have Automatic Speaker setup ( Audyssey MultEQ XT) see page 55. This will give you a good starting point for sound levels.
====================================

Your Onkyo TX-SR805 does not have a "SMALL" / "LARGE" speaker setting.

On your Onkyo TX-SR805 Connecting a Powered Subwoofer ( from page 59)
Using a suitable cable, connect the AV receiver’s SUBWOOFER
PRE OUT to the input on your powered subwoofer.
If your subwoofer is unpowered and you’re
using an external amplifier, connect the SUBWOOFER
PRE OUT to the amp’s input.

Speaker setting "large" or "small" does not indicate speaker size. If the speaker is set to large, the speaker will receive all frequencies. If the speaker size is set to samll then there is a cross over frequency ( usually between 50Hz and 200 Hz), any frequencies below the crossover will be sent to the subwoofer pre out. You do not have a speaker=large or small setting option. That is okay. On you receiver it appears that if you set the subwoofer=Yes or it is detect from running the auto setup, then it has the exact same effect as if you had specified your speaker size as "Small" .

And to confrm what I said (speculated) above from page 87 (step 5):
Use the Up and Down [ ]/[ ]
buttons to select “Front,” and
then use the Left and Right
[ ]/[ ] buttons to select a
crossover frequency.
Note:
• Fixed at Full Band if Subwoofer
(step 4) is set to No.

Advanced setup starts on page 86. There you can set subwoofer=Yes or No
