Hi audioholics,
I came here from hydrogenaudio for some advice. I'm trying to setup a decent sound system for music and movies. Looking to get a 5.1 amp, 2 speakers now, and a 5.1 system eventually. The sound and video source is my PC, and I don't care for any video signal processing or DSP effects on sound. In fact I would ideally want to have a receiver that would just amp 5.1 sound channels without any extra fancy options, but is there even such a product, I can't find one?

Just want to have a good, clean, balanced sound. Don't need extreme volume or crazy bass.

I live in Turkey and the prices on components are very high compared to USA and even Europe. I have a limited budget so I've looked hard for some parts and came up with these:

Amps:

Onkyo TX-DS575 (2nd hand) - $400
Onkyo TX-DS484 (2nd hand) - $360
Pioneer VSX-D711 (2nd hand) - $320
Pioneer VSX-D514 (new) - $320

So, would you comment on these options? thanks.

FYI, My speaker options that I will pair up are the following:
Speakers (2x, new):
Definitive Technology Studio Monitors 450 - $480
Behringer 2030P - $240
Dali AXS 5000 - $400
Dali AXS 3000 - $320
Jamo E650 - $360
Yamaha NS-P420 - $320

1) Which of the following amp would you pick?

a) Onkyo TX-DS575 (2nd hand) - $400
b) Onkyo TX-DS484 (2nd hand) - $360
c) Pioneer VSX-D711 (2nd hand) - $320
d) Pioneer VSX-D514 (new) - $320
Well, of those amps, if I were taking a multiple choice exam, I would pick A) Onkyo-575 because Onkyo has been know for better amp power output and great specs on their receivers.:D

"AUDIO ANALYSIS
This Onkyo (575) does not disgrace itself in the lab. The manufacturer rates its power output at 70W RMS at 0.08 per cent THD (total harmonic distortion). When juiced in the HCC lab we coaxed 77.8W RMS at the onset of clipping, with 1.615 per cent THD.
Like all amps and receivers, we also subjected this Onkyo to the HCC Fidelity Firewall. This is our measurement of real-world power available from the unit without distortion, to help potential buyers compare this product with others which boast less than comparable power ratings on their official specification sheets. It was here, that the subjective lack of muscle became evident. We rated the TX-DS575 at 63.8W RMS at 0.025 per cent THD.
A frequency response sweep revealed nothing untoward and the receiver survived our destruction test, shutting down smartly when subjected to a short circuit and then recovered immediately afterward."

If I could buy online I wouldn't think twice and would buy the latest models from Amazon for $200.
I can't get those shipped here.
