Only the DVD player. Same with SACD. HDCD can be either or.

Hi,
Just a couple of things to check.

First, that your reciever at least has a set of 6ch analog inputs.

On my Denon reciever their called EXT, on my Onkyo its Mltich, and since their analog can be incurred from any input you might be on because they are separate from any COAX or OPT that you may have designated for the players dvd/video's audio functions like DD or DTS.

Second, it would be a good idea to go to www.hdcd.com for info on proper connections. I think, If HDCD is decoded in the player, you have to use a L/R analog connection to the reciever.

Use a digital connection if decoding is done in the reciever and not in the player.

I have no clue if they both have HDCD, but if your PC is part of your Home Theatre, Windows Media 9 decodes HDCD (and will identify it when recognized) I use an analog connection to CD in my reciever but I could use any unused analog L/R inputs.

HDCD is an invention of Microsoft and Pacific Microsonics.
