I am in the market to purchase a plasma. I don't have too much to spend at most $1700.00 I don't mind buying refurbished or used from Amazon. I am looking for tv either 47 or 50". Is it possible to find something good for this price?

Thanks,

I have 50'' plasma for sale if you are anywhere near me. It is a 6 month old Panosonic and is awesome and for sale at a great price.

If I were you I would look into getting a 720p Panasonic plasma at those sizes unless you are sitting extremely close to the set you won't see a difference between that and 1080p.

IMO when it comes to flatscreens you won't find a better screen, especially for the money, than a Panasonic.

Here is an example that can be had for less than 1700 shipping included.

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TH-50PX75U-720p-Plasma-HDTV/dp/B000O5TFRK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-1966872-4787002?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1188954751&sr=8-1

Here are a couple options from the place I ordered my TV with no problems:

I was at my local Costco (bay area) on Sunday and they had the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U (1080P) going for $16 or $1799 (sorry I can't recall the exact price...was interested in the 42"). The TH-42PZ700U was $1199. I know what you guys are thinking...trust me...I was thinking the same thing. After double checking the model number on the box and price tag, the model was PZ700U. By the way, this model is not even on their website. Just a heads up. :)

How can it be that cheap? That is below dealer cost! The 42" that is.

You know on the weekend while searching onlin I found there are some good Plasma HDTVs just at that price . Some of them even below the price ,one of the best one with the low price is HP PL5072N 50 inch Plasma HDTV (720p, HDMI, HD Tuner) for $1450 ,that's a deal they can also offer free shipping for the TV ,I think that's really a good choice for you so I put down the deal for you :

This TV got very good ranking ,and it's specification is pretty good also :
1024 x 768 pixel resolution, 10,000:1 contrast .
3D Digital Comb Filter, Film Mode processing (3:2 Pull Down) .
HP Virtual Surround audio processing, Dolby Digital 5.1 optical digital output .
Hope this helps and good luck .
Stick to Pioneer and Panasonic for plasma, if you value an ability to service the television after the warranty period. Most brands make their devices as 'disposable', with no way to service, or extremely expensive(same price to replace) for even basic service. Also, Pioneer and Panasonic have the best image quality and durability(resistance to screen burn) of current plasma units.

I will back Wmax up on that account. He is correct. Many companies out there have no service capabilities whatsoever for their plasma products. When it comes to plasma, I would say it is Panasonic or Pioneer or nothing.

Yea I found that plasma is very hard to service and get service. That is why I went with an LCD. Less hassle and maintenance cost.
