Plasma Wall Mount Height

My 50" plasma's bottom edge is 51" above the floor, which means the center of hte TV is 67" above the floor. The viewing couch is 14-15' away. I really think the TV set needs to be lower. I could go down another 5" before it would interfere w/ the center channel speakes stand. Any recommendations?

Mount center channel over plasma?

Mounting height is not a one size fits all scenario. Tons of people put them over fireplaces. This is always a 'to high' setup. But, they kick back the recliner and get used to it. I have mine at about 3 or 3.5 feet or so above the floor. I could move it up, or down, a foot without many issues. In fact, it sticks out a few inches below my projection screen when it is lowered, so I will end up raising it a touch.

Personal preference is all though. Perhaps a tilting plasma mount if you don't have one already.

How about mounting your plasmas high enough that once you mount your center channel below it, the speakers tweeter is in line with the tweeters from your FL/FR. Thats what I did.

Plasma height

I have my 40" LCD screen (Bravia V) on the wall so that the bottom of the screen is 1 metre from the floor - the tv is then at eye height when sitting on the sofa.

I have my centre speaker mounted just above my LCD and tilted down, with my left and right front on the sides of the tv at a height exactly at the centre line of the tv. My sub woofer is below the tv on the floor.

Seems to work for me. I admit my speakers (Bose) are small and easily mounted (yes I now, please don't attack me , I like them even if they are not the best speakers in the world !!!)

Hope this helps

Totally subjective.

We put our LCD so that it was at eye-level from the couch and the screen is perfectly vertical. If you put it higher, I would recommend getting a mount that will let you tilt it down.

When I was getting ready to buy, I went to several friend's houses and looked at how high they had their LCD and Plasma screens mounted, and I actually only saw one that I thought was correct, it was centered at eye height with your head in it's normal position while sitting. No looking up, no angling the display, etc. I did mine exactly the same way, and it's great. I would guess the bottom of the TV is about 26-28" above the floor.

One of my friend's has it over the fireplace, and it makes a great picture frame when showing jpegs, but it's way too high, even in a recliner, with the screen angled, it makes my neck cramp up.

Five feet seems to do it in a small room

I have a small room (15 x 15 feet), and for me the right height for the plasma was right in line with the rule of thumb that the center of the screen needs to be about five feet off the floor. At first, this seemed too low..but now that I have been looking at movies and sports events, I don't find that I have to strain to look at the image the way I do with the "over the fireplace" installations. This also permitted me to put my center speaker under the screen, which is more realistic for imaging.

Hmm, I would hate to have mine up that high. The center of the actual screen on my 37" TV is about 40", and it seems perfect when I sit in my usual chair. If it was 60", my neck would kill me.
